Director Dr Enda Murray combines a strong background in media production with academic rigour and innovative flair.<\/p>\n<p>Virus Media productions have played at international film festivals including Rotterdam, Dublin, Docs NZ, Mumbai, Sydney, Montreal, St. Kilda (Melbourne), Galway Film Fleadh (Ireland), Foyle (Northern Ireland), Belfast, Manchester, Flickerfest International Short Film Festival, Sydney Indigenous Film Festival, Berlin Ethnofest, Message Sticks Indigenous Festival, Videolympiade (Brazil), Culture Unplugged (India), Green Screen (UK), Sydney Arab Film Festival, Deadly Awards and Atom Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Virus Media\u2019s first major project was <a href=\"http:\/\/virusmedia.com.au\/wp\/?p=168\">Road<\/a>, a broadcast drama devised and acted by young Aboriginal people in the Redfern area of Sydney. The 26 minute film was shot on 35mm with a budget of $270K raised from the AFC Indigenous Unit, SBSi, NSWFTO, Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs and the Australia Council.<\/p>\n<p>Road screened on SBS and won Audience Favourite, Best Director (Catriona McKenzie) and Best Cinematography (Alan Collins) at Flickerfest in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Virus Media with the support of the Australia Council and the NSW Ministry for the Arts developed an innovative internet arts project, <a href=\"http:\/\/virusmedia.com.au\/wp\/?p=170\">Virtual Palestine<\/a>. This project was developed with young Arabic people in Western Sydney and provided a virtual space for the Palestinian community worldwide to communicate and share artwork on the web.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006 Virus Media produced a short feature comedy, <a href=\"http:\/\/virusmedia.com.au\/wp\/?p=176\"><em>Jammin\u2019 in the Middle E<\/em><\/a>, again working with Arabic young people in Western Sydney. The project was devised using a workshop approach and used real life stories from the lives of the young amateur cast as the starting point for the screenplay. The project also included a companion documentary <a href=\"http:\/\/virusmedia.com.au\/wp\/?p=173\"><em>Habibi Jammin\u2019<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Virus Media has produced several radio documentaries for the ABC\u2019s Radio National on fringe communities in Australian society. These include <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/17275530\">Dereb &#8211; A Portrait of an Ethiopian<\/a> musician living in Sydney, <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/paddy-bogwog\/wired-palestine\">Wired Palestine<\/a> &#8211; about the use of the internet in the Middle East Conflict and <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/17273561\">Earthdream<\/a> &#8211; about a travelling anarcho-punk eco-activist music circus.<\/p>\n<h2>About Dr Enda Murray<\/h2>\n<p>Dr Enda Murray is an award-winning filmmaker with extensive experience in program making having lived and worked in Ireland, England, Europe, USA and Australia.
